Over the weekend, film challenge participants attended the HollyShorts Film Festival to see their films screened during the “Diverse” Block. The event was held at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
All Easterseals Disability Film Challenge winning films are automatically entered into Hollyshorts, an official Academy Award qualifying Film Festival. Attendees, including cast and crew from Best Friend and Whitney’s Wedding and Siblings Liebencrantz, are also invited to attend the panels and workshops hosted at Hollyshorts.
Disability Film Challenge Director Nic Novicki attended the events with the filmmakers, noting that the event “is a big marketing tool to up-and-coming filmmakers to have their film screen at the Chinese Theater. It is also a great opportunity for our filmmakers to network with other film professionals and try to build up their teams for the next years film challenge.”
The event provides another great platform to film challenge participants, both to screen their projects and garner support for the mission of improving diversity and changing the view of disability in Hollywood.
