GENRE: Buddy Comedy
The films entered into the challenge must be in the genre of Buddy Comedy.
Some examples include: “Pitch Perfect” “The Heat” “The Hang Over” “Turner and Hooch” “White Men Can’t Jump” “Superbad” “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion” “Sideways” “The Trip” “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” “Hot Fuzz” “Men In Black” “Dumb and Dumber” “Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas” “Tommy Boy” “Step Brothers” “Some Like It Hot” “The Blues Brothers” “Planes Trains and Automobiles” “48 Hours” “Frozen” “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Twins”, etc…
Special note: Each film must have someone with a disability in front of or behind the camera. For teams utilizing SAG-AFTRA talent all entrant representatives must follow the SAG-AFTRA filming requirements and safety protocols, which are available on SAG-AFTRA’s website and inside our rules http://disabilityfilmchallenge.com/challenge/the-rules
THEME: Choose one theme per film. Options include:
– Rivalry
– An unlikely couple
– Dynamic duo
Theme Option 1: Rivalry
Are you competing against someone in your life? Did someone new enter your life via work, school, your team, or group of friends? Is there a competition within your family? Do you find yourself teaming up with a friend, co-worker, partner or family member to achieve a goal or to stay relevant? How were you able to deal it? How did the people around you deal with it? This theme will explore competition.
Theme Option 2: An unlikely couple
Do you find yourself suddenly paired up with someone who looks or acts different from you? Are you suddenly working in a new group? Are you a fish out of water? Do you have a new boss, or did you just become someone’s boss?
This theme will explore conflict that arises when you are forced to work or interact with someone new.
Theme Option 3: Dynamic Duo
Do you find yourself interacting with one person often? If so, how are you the same and how are you different? This theme will explore how you are different from your partner and how these differences result in your success or failure.
SETTINGS:
Your film does not have to take place exclusively within the locations below, but the main action of the film must take place in at least one of these settings:
· an apartment/house
· a recreational area, such as a park
· a backyard
· a garage
· a storefront
· a car/parking lot
STORY ELEMENTS/REQUIRED PROPS: Filmmakers must incorporate at least two of these items in their films:
– coffee cup
– phone
– hat
– bowl
– photograph
– pretzels

DURATION: All films must be between 1-5 minutes in length, not including the credits. If the addition of the credits puts the film over 5 minutes, that is acceptable, however films cannot exceed 6 minutes.
Submission Deadline: All entries must be uploaded as downloadable Vimeo files and linked to FilmFreeway, or uploaded to FilmFreeway directly (make sure you change the settings to downloadable!) by 9 p.m. EST / 6 p.m. PST on Sunday, April 7th, 2024. Finalists will be announced on May 5th. Winners will be announced on Thursday, May 9th, 2024 at Sony Pictures Studios.
