2017 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge Assignment

Genre: Family Comedy
The films entered into the challenge must be in the genre of family comedy. Some examples include: “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”, “Birdcage” “Big”, “Father of the Bride” “Meet The Parents” “The Royal Tenenbaums” “Mrs. Doubtfire”, “Coming To America” “Parent Trap” “Honey I shrunk Kids” “Frozen” “Christmas Story” “Little Miss Sunshine” “Freaky Friday” “Mama Mia” “Knocked Up “Big Daddy” “Liar Liar” “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”

Setting: A Living Room, Family Room, Kitchen, Garage, Car, Backyard or Park
The films don’t have to take place exclusively within the above locations, but the main action of the film must take place in one of the settings.

Story Elements: a hat, a family heirloom, a photograph, an apple, a calculator, glasses, a towel
Filmmakers must incorporate at least two of these items in their films.

Theme/Motif: Films must utilize one of the following motifs or themes:

THEME Option 1: The New Normal
When a major life change happens have you or anyone you know had to adjust to a new set of circumstances? How were you able to deal with it? Was it easy or hard? How did the people around you deal with it? This theme will explore how one does or does not adapt to change.

THEME Option 2: Wrongful Accusation
Have you ever been accused of something you didn’t do? How did you react? Were you able to change the other people’s mind? Have you ever accused someone of something that you know they didn’t do? This theme will explore conflict from different perspectives and the difference between right and wrong.

Duration:
All films must be between 3-5 minutes in length not including the credits. If the addition of the credits put the film over 5 minutes, that is acceptable.

Submission Deadline:
All entries must be uploaded as downloadable Vimeo files and linked to in FilmFreeway by 9 p.m. EST / 6 p.m. PST on Sunday, April 23, 2017. Winners will be announced on or before Thursday, May 18, 2017.
